Under the Health Care Program, RHEST has been working on
several key areas, including:
Nutrition
The organization promotes healthy eating habits by
educating communities and schools on the importance of consuming locally
available nutritious foods. To support this effort, RHEST has developed and
disseminated a variety of Information Education and Communication (IEC)
materials and books on nutrition.
Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP)
For over 25 years, RHEST has been working to improve
maternal health by focusing on both preventive measures and treatment for POP.
This has included organizing health camps, providing POP treatment, and raising
awareness about POP. The organization has collaborated with various NGOs and
INGOs to treat women with POP. To date, more than 40,000 women have received
health care services, and over 3,000 health workers and FCHV have been trained.
Additionally, approximately 1,000 women have benefited from POP surgery.
Nursing Scholarships
In an effort to support the education of girls in the
medical field, RHEST offers various scholarships in
reputable government colleges in Nepal. In collaboration with Women for Women
Foundation (Netherlands), 22 girls have been able to pursue their Nursing
Degree through the organization's scholarships. Some of these girls are
now practicing in Nepal, while others have gone on to practice abroad.
