Insights and Takeaways

RHEST organized an exposure visit for alum members to help them learn from real-life experiences of organizations and businesses. They observed how small business owners and organizations operate, the challenges they face, and the factors that contribute to their success. 15 alum members from Banke, Kailali, Kavre, Surkhet, and Udayapur visited Makwanpur from March 25 to April 4, 2025. March 25 to April 4, 2025.

During the visit, they toured various small businesses and organizations, learned about their work, struggles, and success stories, and took part in discussions. Both theory and practical sessions helped them understand the basics of doing business. They also visited the Chepang community and learned about their history and socio-economic conditions.

They visited the following places in Makwanpur:

• Wooden craft work – Piple Pokhara Community Forest Group

• Dhaka fabric, plastic recycling, handicrafts (bags, mats) – Koseli Ghar, Hetauda

• Chepang community – Ward No. 5, Raksirang Municipality

• Honey production and processing center

• Mama Ghar – Home for street children

• CWIN-Nepal

• Pickle and Gundruk production – Shree Kanchanjunga Agriculture Cooperative

• Plastic bottle production – Hetauda Industry


The participants appreciated the slum exposure visit and expressed that more such training opportunities would support their learning and personal growth.
